RULES FOR DUCK RIVER SPEEDWAY 2008

LATE MODEL RULES

1. No Radios, mirrors, or flashing lights

2. Tires: Any tire that will durometer check 60 min. (Rear Tires only)

3. Unified body rules.

4. Weight: Open engines with 8" spoiler  2,300 pounds with 1 lb. per lap burnoff

362  Spec engines with 12" spoiler 2,250 lbs with 1lb per lap burnoff. 362 max,

sas/supr spec heads and intake, must have markings on head and intake, any camshaft, and steel block.

All steel engines with 14" spoiler no minimum weight

5. Steel Engine Specs

2-BBL/CRATE Late Model Rules

1. All body, suspension, and tire rules will be the same as late model. Top Optional.

2. Carburetor. Stock Holley 4412. Must have choke horn.

Carburetor spacer or adapter will be a maximum of 1" between carburetor and intake.

2A. Gas only

3. Engine. Must have steel heads and block. No dry sump oiling systems. Must have factory valve

angle. Crate engines will be checked according to gm crate engine specs. Stormpay rules used.

4. Weight. 2bbl 2350 lbs. anytime

602 crate engine 2200 lbs. anytime

604 crate engine 2350 lbs. anytime

5. Only the winning cars carb may be protested and protester must have finished in the top five.

OPEN WHEEL MODIFIED RULES

1. IMCA body & chassis rules apply.

2. Engine Claim: $650 and swap your engine, track retaining $50.00. Only winning car can be

claimed. To claim, winning car/driver must finish in top five to claim engine. Must follow claim

procedure in protest rules! No protest of internal parts.

3. Weight: 2450 lbs anytime.

4. Roller cams permitted.

4A. Aluminum heads must have 50 lbs of the 2450 lbs in front of the midplate.

5. No traction control devices, refer to protest rule #10.

6. Bert Style bellhousing and starter permitted.

7. Tires Hoosier IMCA or American Racer KK704

.OUTLAW PONY

1. Rear wheel drive compact 4 cyl cars, trucks, and station wagons allowed.

2. Engine - 2550 CC maximum.

3. Head - A. Factory head only. No porting and polishing. No roller cams. 2 valves per cylinder.

Valves must be stock. Diameter of valves shall not exceed the following. Tolerance .010.

B. Factory open head, add 100 lbs to weight limit, no roller cams.

4. Carburetor - Any 2bbl.

5. Weight - 1lb per cc. example, 2300 = 2300lbs. Must be on right fender, failing

to do so means you carry max weight after the race.

6. Suspension - Wedge bolts permitted. Trailing arms may be aftermarket, uppers

may be adjustable, must mount in stock location.  Shocks may be relocated. all

other parts must be in stock location.  No Canister type shocks.

7. Tires - 10" Racing tires max width.

8. Wheels - 10" max width

A. 8" wheels and tires may deduct 100lbs.

9. Body - 1971-1997 Rear wheel drive compact four cylinder cars, trucks and station wagons

allowed. Any type body. Must have tow hooks front and rear. Must have stock firewall & floor

pan in drivers compartment only to the center of the hump.

10. No sport cars or front wheel drive.

11. Fuel - Any

12. Must have stock frame, front and rear, snout may be tied together if car has subframe.

Tube frame with open suspension add 150 lbs, no birdcages.

13. No quick change rearends.

14. Must have working fire extinguisher, driver fire suit, helmet with shield and safety belts.

15. 1" dia. lug nuts minimum.

16. No traction control devices, refer to protest rule #10.

16. Transmission-Any

17. Anything not covered must have approval by track officials.

SUPERSTOCK

1. No high performance parts allowed unless otherwise stated.

2. Wheel Base - 108"

3. Suspension - Stock, wedge bolts allowed, may use aftermarket upper control arms and

mounts. All other suspension parts must be in stock location.

4. Engine - Number one cylinder must be within 1" of ball joint. Must match make of car.

A. Bore - +.060 Maximum.

B. Stroke - Stock for CID of Engine.

C. Rods - Any steel rod

D. Pistons - Flat top or dished only. Any aftermarket.

E. Camshaft - Hydraulic or solid. No roller.

F. Carburetor - Any 4 bbl.

G. Intake - Any 4 bbl intake

 H. Heads - Any steel head with stock valve angle, chevy 23 deg, ford 20 deg, chrysler 18

deg. May be aftermarket valves, steel only. No porting, polishing, grinding, or etc. May

have pinned or screw in studs and guide plates. Three angle valve job permitted. Any rocker

arm and valve spring.

J. Ignition - Any

K. Rings, Rod & Main Bearings, Oil pumps, Cam and Lifters, Valves, Valve springs,

Gaskets, Plugs, Plug wires, Push rods, Bolts, Nuts, Etc. may be aftermarket.

L. May run aftermarket oil pans.

5. Rear End - Locked rear ends permitted. Any factory type rear end . May be floated axle.

A. May use rear disc, calipers must be factory .(example: front GM can be used on rear)

Rotors and hats must be steel.

B. May use adjustable lowering blocks or trailing arms.

6. Transmission - Straight shift legal. All must have all gears and be produced by manufacturer

of car.

A. Must have steel blowproof bellhousing

Automatics may use coupler.

7. Clutch- Any

8. Shocks - Racing shocks permitted. May be relocated.

9. Safety Hub - Recommended RF only.

10. Wheels - Any wheel, max width 14"

11. Tires - 11x92 max

12. Bodies - Must be full bodies cars or trucks. May use fiberglass hoods, tops and aftermarket

stock appearing steel body.

Aftermarket bodies must be one of the following approved bodies.

ARP 2002 Dodge Intrepid part# SIT2001

ARP 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo part# SMC1800

ARP 2002 Ford Taurus part# STR2001

ARP Camaro part# SCM1500

Performance Bodies 81 Camaro

Performance Bodies 81-88 Monte Carlo

Rayline stock replacement bodies, Camaro, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Regal.  Unibody

cars must leave floor pan attached if the suspension mounts to the floorpan to maintain

stock location. Trunk area may be removed. NO JACK PEGS OR BARS OUTSIDE THE

BODY SKIN!

A. Spoiler-8" max height with a max of 3 supports.

13. Weight - 3200# small block, 3550# big block

14. Fuel tanks - A mandatory fire wall between driver and fuel tank.

15. Headers - Legal.

16. Frame section in front of A frame mount and behind rear suspension mounts may be replaced

with tubing due to rust or excessive damage.

17. All glass and flammable parts must be removed.

18. Roll bars - All cars must have a 4-point roll cage. 4 bars on drivers side, 2 in passenger side,

no less than 1 1/2" O.D. black pipe minimum.

19. 1" dia. lug nuts minimum. Must have 5 lug studs and lug nuts per wheel.

20. Safety: Must have working fire extinguisher, driver fire suit, helmet with shield and safety belts

21. Anything not covered must have approval by track officials.

PURE STOCK PONY / ROOKIE

1. Body - A. 1971 - 1997 model rear wheel drive compact four cylinder cars, trucks and station

wagons allowed.

B. Must be stock appearing, may use rayline aftermarket stock steel replacement.

C. Must have full stock body, firewall and floorpan.

D. Must have tow hooks, front/rear.

E. No spoilers

2. Engines -A. Must match make of car and be in original position and powered by gasoline only.

B. Hydraulic cams and lifters only.

C. Lower end stock only, =.060 allowed. Must be stock cast replacement piston or

hypereutectic type piston only. No forged or light weight pistons or pins. No

lightning of crankshaft except for balancing purposes.

D. No high performance parts permitted unless otherwise stated.

E. No roller rocker arms.

F. May run aftermarket pulleys, cam and crank.

G. Ignition: Must be stock. Replacement parts such as cap, rotor, points, module, coil,

plug wires, and etc. may be aftermarket.

H. Aftermarket valve covers and oil pans permitted

3. Heads -A. Factory steel head only. If engine equipped with aluminum head from factory will be

allowed to run. Exp. Nissan or Toyota.

B. No porting/polishing.

C. Valves must be stock diameter and length for head being run.

D. Refer to outlaw pony rule #3 for valve size.

4. Intake -A. Stock carb. intake only, no polishing, porting or modifying.

B. Any factory 2 BBL carb, or holley 4412 w/choke horn.

5. Exhaust - A. Headers allowed.

6. Flywheel/Clutch: A. Stock clutch, pressure plate, an flywheel.

B. No modifications. Flywheel may be surfaced on clutch side only.

7. Tires/Wheels - A. Wheels - 7" steel wheel only.

B. Tires - No racing or recapped tires. 7" max.

8. Suspension - Racing shocks permitted. All parts must be stock in original position. Rear axle

may be locked.

9. Weight - 1lb per cc.  Must be painted on right front fender. Failing to do so means you carry

max. weight after race.

10. General - A. Stock parts, stock position.

11. Anything not covered must have approval of track officials.

12. Must have working fire extinguisher, driver fire suit, helmet with shield and must have

safety belts.

13. 1" dia. lug nuts minimum

PROTEST

1. Protest for alleged violation of rules may be filed by drivers only.

2. Protest will be accepted, along with U.S. currency to cover the cost of the said protest.

3. Protest must be made to the scale man as soon the car leaves the track and the protester

and their car may not leave the scales until the protest is valid. Protester must exit off turn 1

and report directly to the scales. Failure to follow this procedure will result in rejection of the

protest. Protest must be made valid within 10 minutes following the falling of the flag ending

the race.

IMCA ENGINE CLAIMS WILL FOLLOW THE SAME PROCEDURE!

4. ONLY THE WINNER OF A FEATURE RACE CAN BE PROTESTED OR CLAIMED AND THE

PROTESTER MUST HAVE FINISHED IN THE TOP 5 OF THAT FEATURE AND TAKEN THE

CHECKERED FLAG ON THE LEAD LAP.

5. Official has the right to recognize the validity of a protest, and reject any protest.

6. After protest fee has been posted and accepted, no withdrawals and no refunds.

7. The driver of the protested vehicle is responsible for limiting admittance to the inspection area.

8. If a driver refuses to tear down after being protested he is considered illegal and loses all points

and money accumulated for the racing event.

9. Any visual protest must be made 15 minutes before start of feature race of the night.

10. No car may leave the premises until 15 minutes after completion of his race.

11 Winning car being protested may counter equivalent within 10 minutes of being protested.

12. One visual on one car per driver per night.

13. Any driver making a visual protest will submit to the same protest being done on his or her

car first.

14. Carb and distributor may be checked as visual but will also be considered as part of a top

engine protest.

15. DISORDERLY CONDUCT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. DISORDERLY CONDUCT FROM

EITHER OR BOTH DRIVERS OR CREWS WILL RESULT ONE OR BOTH

DISQUALIFICATIONS!

16. Claim or protest refusal

1st offense. Lose all points and money accumulated for the racing event and forfits the right to

post any claims or protest for the rest of the season.

2nd offense. Lose all money accumulated for the racing event, lose all points accumulated for the

entire season and pay a $500 fine before returning to competition.

17. No driver will be eligible to protest or claim if he or she has brought out 2 caution flags.

18. No driver may protest or claim the same driver more than once during the season.

A. Rule #18 will not apply if found illegal, refuses to be claimed or teardown.

19. To claim an engine, you must have competed in 3 races per season prior to claiming.

20. In case of multiple claims or protest, will go to the driver finishing farthermost back.

21. In the event of a full engine protest, engine will be retained by DRS and inspected

at a determined time acceptable to all parties.

PROTEST FEES

4 and 8 Cylinder

1. $300.00 to check TOP part of engine. Track retains $50.00. Includes bore and stroke,

pistons (top), heads, intake, camlift, any porting or polishing, lifters and carb.

2 $75 to check intake for port and polishing, check all sealing bolts, rocker arms and

camshaft lift on crate engines. Track retains $25.

3. $550.00 to check all of motor. Track retains $100.00. Includes bore and stroke, crank,

rods, pistons, heads, intake, camlift, lifters, any porting or polishing of heads, and carb.

4. $75.00 to check porting and polished of heads. Track retains $25.00. Head or heads stay

on motor 

5. $100.00 to inspect flywheel, torque converter, and transmission. Track retains $50.00.

6. $650.00 to check all of engine including compression, flywheel, transmission & torque

convertor. Track retains $ 150.00.

7. Track retains right to claim any engine or check any engine at any time.

8. $50 to remove valve cover on 4 cyl eng to check valve train. Track retains $25.

9. $250 to protest ignition box (msd) for traction control. Box to be sent to mfgr. All testing

expenses plus $25 to be retained.

10. $50 to inspect 4412 carb on pure stock pony and 2bbl late model. Track retains $25.
